Report Configuration

Configure the report record before entering the visual Designer.

2. Create and configure a report

  1. Open Reports.
  2. Select New, or duplicate a suitable template.
  3. Enter a clear Name and choose the Report Group.
  4. Select the Target Model.
  5. Optionally limit the template to one or more Companies.
  6. Select the Paper Size.
  7. Set the typography, region, formatting, layer, print and renderer defaults.
  8. Save the record, then choose Open Designer.

Report-level settings: model, company scope, paper format, typography, header/footer, number formatting, renderer and output controls.

General

  • Name: the label users see in Reports and, after binding, in the model Print menu.
  • Report Groups: groups related templates, for example Sales Reports or Logistics Reports.
  • Target Model: defines which record fields the Designer can browse and which model receives the report action.
  • Companies: leave empty for all companies; select companies to hide and block the report elsewhere.
  • Paper Size: supplies page dimensions, margins, orientation and grid behaviour.

Typography and formatting

  • Standard Font / Standard Font Size: defaults for new text-like elements.
  • Designer Theme: dark, light or system theme for the editing workspace.
  • Decimal Separator, Group Thousands and Number Decimals: report-wide number defaults.
  • Date Format: default presentation for date and datetime fields.
  • Color Space: use RGB for normal digital/PDF output; use CMYK only when the renderer and production workflow support it.
  • PDF Renderer: choose the normal WKHTMLTOPDF/QWeb pipeline or the optional alternative renderer when installed.

Header, footer, layers and output

  • Enable Header and Footer independently and define their heights in millimetres.
  • Set the number of overlay layers and optionally activate a Watermark layer with controlled opacity.
  • Use Lock All Elements to protect a finished design from accidental movement.
  • Invert Colors and Rotate Output support specialised print workflows.
  • With Print Server Integration, choose PDF, Print Server or PDF + Print Server and select the appropriate host, printer and optional profile.

Important: changing the Target Model after a layout has been built can invalidate field paths, computed expressions and line-table columns. Verify every data-bound element after such a change.

Safe model changes

Changing the target model can invalidate fields, related paths, computed expressions and line columns. Re-select a representative sample record and verify every dynamic element.
