Administration, Reuse & Labels

Reuse layouts safely and administer shared assets, paper formats, backups and label sheets.

11. Reuse, import, export and backup

Copy between reports

  1. Select one or more elements.
  2. Press Ctrl+C on Windows/Linux or Cmd+C on macOS.
  3. Open the target report in the same browser profile.
  4. Press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V and save.

Copied data is retained in browser memory, scoped local storage and, when permitted, the native clipboard. Pasted elements receive new IDs. Pasting into the same report offsets the copy by 2 mm; pasting into another report preserves region and coordinates.

After cross-model paste: verify field paths, computed expressions, related fields and every one2many column. The Designer intentionally preserves the original bindings.

Import and export

  • Use Export on a report template to download the layout JSON.
  • Use Import to replace or restore a layout from JSON.
  • Paper sizes have their own JSON import/export workflow.
  • Use the Report Hub backup wizard to move larger configuration sets between databases.

Clipart administration

Cliparts are maintained as Odoo records and attachments. Organise them into collections, upload SVG files, control thumbnail size and allow the scheduled synchronisation to keep the library available to the Designer.

Configuration records

  • Paper Sizes: width, height, margins, borderless mode, major/minor grid intervals and colours; JSON import/export.
  • Report Groups: organise templates and sequence.
  • Clipart Collections: hierarchical folders, ordering, activation, filesystem sync, SVG upload, thumbnails and cleanup.
  • Backup System: exports/restores paper sizes, groups and templates as a package.

Labels & Sheet Layouts

The optional mg_report_layout module adds sheet definitions and label jobs.

  • Define paper size, rows, columns, margins, gaps, label width/height and corner radius.
  • Create round labels and optional inner diameters for ring-shaped labels.
  • Preview sheet geometry as SVG.
  • Select one or multiple records and set a quantity per record.
  • Template elements are cloned into each slot, offset in millimetres and linked text-path IDs are remapped.
  • Repeated quantities flow to additional pages automatically.

Print with scaling disabled. “Fit to page” invalidates millimetre-accurate label positioning.
